The new SunEye 210 has integrated electronic orientation for optimum accuracy and convenience.

Element Energy Inc. is a Silicon Valley company founded in 2009 to develop leading-edge Battery Management Systems. The Element Energy BMS is a cost effective hardware/software system that manages large, multi-cell battery packs. Element's initial focus is on lithium-ion battery packs used in a wide range of applications including hybrid and electric vehicles, alternative energy storage and grid-tied storage. Compared to conventional battery management systems, the Element solution provides substantial lifetime extension; significant cost reduction; and improved safety and reliability through better monitoring, fault detection, and control of each cell.

Apoplogic Pharmaceuticals LLC:  ApopLogic Pharmaceuticals is a startup phase biopharmaceutical company focused on the discovery, development and commercialization of therapeutic products that target apoptotic cell death pathways found in cancers, leukemias and lymphomas.

Lypro Biosciences: Lypro BioSciences is a specialty biopharma company whose technology addresses the adverse effects arising from the insoluble nature of certain hydrophobic drugs – drugs that are poorly soluble in the blood stream.
 

Visioneering Corp: Visioneering provides new breakthrough, on-eye/in-eye optical lens design for treating presbyopia.

Amplyx Pharmaceuticals, Inc.  Amplyx is developing a method that improves and prolongs the life of small molecule drugs. One of the company’s co-founders, Dr. Gerry Crabtree, described the method as sequestering — or “hiding” — the drug inside the cell where it can’t be degraded, adding, “it means the drug lives longer.”

Vaxart has developed a platform technology that will let almost any vaccine be delivered orally. Initial applications include Avian Influenza, annual influenza, second-generation oral versions of existing vaccines, and unmet needs. The company is currently testing an avian flu vaccine in animal models and is working toward a clinical trial in 2010.

RETROTOPE is a privately held company focused on the development of ways of controlling metabolic processes associated with the oxidative stress conditions. Areas of interest include aging and age-related disease. RETROTOPE uses isotope effect to slow down damaging pathways. The company has several discovery and development programmes that involve major classes of biopolymers.

Innerscope Research, founded in January 2006, by Dr Carl Marci and Brian Levine, is a revolutionary media research firm that uses recent advances in biomeasures and proprietary software analysis to measure an audiences' emotional engagement to any form of media stimulus. The combination of Mr. Levine's extensive experience in consumer research and creative design, combined with Dr. Marci's expertise in Social Neuroscience provides the foundation of Innerscope's vision, and the basis for the Innerscope monitoring and reporting system.

Allylix has developed proprietary technology that allows it to produce a group of natural products called terpenes at low cost. In nature, terpenes are produced by plants in minute quantities to serve a number of different functions. Some are flavors and fragrances, while others are anti-fungal and anti-viral and still others are insect repellents. Because of this, terpenes have significant commercial value to the flavor and fragrance, insect repellent and pharmaceutical industries. Allylix's proprietary technology platform allows it to cost effectively produce a broad range of terpenes and thereby exploit their significant commercial value.

Theron Pharmaceuticals is a late pre‐clinical stage company developing a best‐in‐class bronchodilator for respiratory diseases, including the multi‐billion dollar chronic obstructive pulmonary diseases (COPD) market. Theron has identified several development candidates that have potency, efficacy and long duration of bronchoprotection comparable to tiotropium in guinea pigs and dogs with a rapid onset of action.

Biomimedica is a medical device company that is pioneering new approaches to joint repair through its proprietary, synthetic cartilage technology. Osteoarthritis (OA) is a degenerative disease of articular cartilage that affects nearly 27 million Americans. Articular cartilage serves as the bearing surface for all moving joints in the human body. OA patients experience increasingly frequent and progressively more severe pain upon weight bearing and upon movement that can severely restrict activity and reduce quality of life. Biomimedica is developing earlier intervention solutions to treat osteoarthritis that will allow patients to maintain a pain-free, active lifestyle.

OncoHealth Corporation:  OncoHealth Corporation's mission is to enhance women's health through better diagnostic testing and screening. OncoHealth plans to commercialize unique proprietary tests for cervical cancer and other cancers associated with human papillomavirus (HPV). By directly differentiating the stages of cancer progression, OncoHealth's tests will enable clinicians to triage HPV infected patients and select the most effective treatments—a capability that the Pap smear and existing molecular diagnostic tests cannot provide. The company also can leverage its proprietary technology to produce a full product line of unique test applications for other HPV-associated cancers, including anal, oral, laryngeal, vulva, penile, and vaginal cancers. OncoHealth maintains a strong patent portfolio including HPV biomarkers for detection of HPV and cervical cancer.

MoMelan Technologies is the developer of a device to treat skin disorders by expanding the surface area of skin grafts. MoMelan technology was invented in the lab of company co-founder and all-star Harvard dermatologist R. Rox Anderson. The device will be used to expand a piece of skin by up to 100 times its original size to cover an area on the body that is larger than the graft could normally cloak. The device was initially developed at Massachusetts General Hospital in the Wellman Center for Photomedicine, of which Anderson is director, for people with vitiligo, a disorder in which patches of skin lose pigmentation. The firm’s founders say the device also has the potential to be used for patients with scars and other skin conditions for which skin grafts are treatment options.

EMKinetics is a medical startup that uses non-invasive neurostimulation therapy for treatment of Urge Incontinence -Over Active Bladder.

Niveus Medical Inc. is dedicated to improving the standard of care for critically ill patients. By providing caregivers with innovative tools that improve the quality and time-efficiency of patient interventions, Niveus Medical aims to advance existing treatment paradigms in the intensive care unit. A deep understanding of the constraints and working conditions in this unique environment has given Niveus Medical the ability to develop focused product designs that will have a significant impact on patient care.
